Health Benefit

  • Antitussive and asthma relief

Bitter almonds contain amygdalin, which can be hydrolyzed by intestinal microbial enzymes or the amygdalin enzymes contained in bitter almonds in the body, resulting in trace amounts of hydrocyanic acid and benzaldehyde, which have an inhibitory effect on the respiratory center and achieve a calming effect.

  • Laxative

Bitter almonds are bitter in taste and rich in fatty oil, which can improve the lubricating effect of intestinal contents on mucous membranes, so bitter almonds have the effect of moistening the intestines and laxatives.

  • Anti-inflammatory and analgesic

Bitter almond contains amygdalin. Benzoin is generated by the action of benzaldehyde and benzoin condensate generated by the decomposition of amygdalin. Benzoin has analgesic effect. KR-A and KR-B in bitter almond extract have anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities.

  • Anti-tumor

Amygdalin can enter the blood to kill cancer cells, but has no effect on healthy cells, so it can improve the symptoms of advanced cancer patients and prolong their survival. Bitter almonds are also rich in carotene, so they can resist oxidation, prevent free radicals from invading cells, and have the effect of preventing tumors.

  • Lowering blood lipids

Bitter almonds are also rich in flavonoids and polyphenols, which can reduce the content of cholesterol in the human body. In addition, the monounsaturated fatty acids in bitter almonds help reduce mildly elevated blood lipids in patients.
