Saikosaponin is derived from dried Chinese Thorowax Extract. Bupleurum is also known as Radix Bupleuri, Dixon, Mountain Vegetable, Rucao, and Chai Cao. It is divided into North Bupleurum and South Bupleurum according to shape. Saikosaponin is one of the most pharmacologically active components isolated and extracted from traditional Chinese medicine Bupleurum, and is generally considered to have pharmacological effects such as antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory.
