Product Details
Lycopene powder widely exists in tomatoes, tomato products, watermelon, grapefruit and other fruits. It is the main pigment in mature tomatoes and one of the common carotenoids.
In 1989, mascio found that it had the highest quenching activity of singlet oxygen among all carotenoids. Subsequently, the research on the function of it has become a hot spot, involving the absorption and metabolism of it, reducing the risk of prostate cancer and other tumors and cardiovascular diseases, as well as the extraction and determination methods of it.
At present, it has been widely used not only as a natural pigment, but also in functional foods, drugs and cosmetics. It is an unsaturated olefin compound, which is the main pigment in mature tomatoes and one of the common carotenoids. It does not have β- Carotened β- Because of the ring structure of Zhixiang ketone, it cannot be transformed into vitamin A in the body and does not belong to provitamin a. The molecular formula is C40H56 and there are many CIS trans isomers.
Health Benefits
(1) Enhance the ability of oxidative stress and anti-inflammatory effect
Oxidative damage is considered to be one of the main reasons for the increase of cancer and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The antioxidant capacity of it in vitro has been confirmed by many experiments. The ability of it to quench singlet oxygen is a commonly used antioxidant at present β- More than 2 times of carotene, 100 times of vitamin E.
(2) Protect cardio cerebral vessels
It can deeply remove vascular garbage, regulate plasma cholesterol concentration, protect low-density lipoprotein (LDL) from oxidation, repair and improve oxidized cells, promote the formation of intercellular glia, and enhance vascular flexibility. An investigation showed that serum its concentration was negatively correlated with the incidence of cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage. The study of it on anti atherosclerosis in rabbits shows that it can effectively reduce the levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in rabbits, and its effect is equivalent to that of fluvastatin sodium. Other studies have shown that it has a protective effect on local cerebral ischemia. It mainly inhibits the activity of glial cells through antioxidation and scavenging free radicals, and reduces the area of cerebral perfusion injury
(3) Protect skin
It also has the function of reducing skin damage by radiation or ultraviolet (UV). When UV irradiates the skin, it in the skin combines with the free radicals produced by UV to protect the skin tissue from damage. Compared with the skin without UV irradiation, it decreases by 31%~46%, and the content of other components is almost unchanged. Studies have shown that eating foods rich in it at ordinary times can resist UV and avoid erythema caused by UV irradiation. It can also quench free radicals in epidermal cells, and has a significant fading effect on age spots.
(4) Enhance immunity
Lycopene can activate immune cells, protect phagocytes from their own oxidative damage, promote the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes, stimulate the function of effector T cells, promote the production of some interleukin and inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators. Studies have found that taking capsules in a medium dose can improve human immunity and reduce the damage of acute exercise to the body’s immunity.
